Mikel Gurrea, born in San Sebastián in 1985, is a graduate in audiovisual communication from the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona and earned an MA from the London Film School. His short films have won awards at festivals such as the Montreal World Film Festival and his theatre art has premiered at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London and the Fernando Fernán-Gómez in Madrid. His filmography includes his first full-length feature, Suro (2021, in production), Heltzear (2021, fiction), Foxes (2015, fiction), Txoria (2013, documentary), Rojo en el agua (2012, fiction), Los gatos del tejado (2009, fiction), and Primo (2008, fiction).
